Kung Fu Cape Town teaches two forms of self-defence.
One is physical - you will improve your strength, flexibilty, and overall health. Additionally, you will learn to strike with tremendous power and effectiveness. Hopefully, you will never need to fight... But should the occasion arise, shouldn't everyone know how to protect themselves?
The second form of self-defence is internal. Our students learn to spot danger and avoid dangerous people, places and activities. Our Lessons can help you avoid the need for a physical confrontation. This second form of self-defence is perhaps the most valuable of the two.

 
 

"Claude invited me and a group of friends to a one-day workshop that he claimed would be a life changing experience in self-development and self-defence.
We got a taste of Neuro-linguistic programming, where the core idea is that an individual's thoughts, gestures and words interact to create one's perception of the world. By changing one's outlook, therefore, a person can improve his or her attitudes and actions. These observations can be changed by applying a variety of techniques that he gave us examples of. We did some inner reflection and decided that what was most important to ourselves was that in order to fulfil all our future goals we had to put our own safety first.
Claude and his team taught us a few techniques that we could use when placed in a threatening situation and each of these were based on the premise of attack.
We practiced these techniques in pairs and then put them to the test as one by one, we were attacked by either Claude or one of his team.
Claude and his team were prepared to take the punishment, but the majority of women found it hard to physically lash out at their attackers.
It took some coaxing, but soon all the women were able to stand their ground. It taught me a lot about myself.
Every woman left the workshop feeling slightly euphoric and changed on some level. Each realised that they should never present themselves to the world as a potential victim or as prey for the kill. They felt empowered and confident enough to know that if ever they do face a ruthless attacker, they now stand a damn good chance at survival."
